The GATE score is used for get admission to post Graduate Programmes (ME, M. Tech & Ph. D) The GATE score of a candidate reflects the relative performance level of a candidate. The score is used for admissions to various post-graduate education programs (e.g. Master of Engineering, Master of Technology, Doctor of Philosophy) in Indian higher education institutes, with financial assistance provided by MHRD and other government agencies. Recently, GATE scores are also being used by several Indian public sector undertakings (i.e., government-owned companies) for recruiting graduate engineers in entry-level positions. It is one of the toughest and most competitive examinations in India. GATE is considered to be the standard examination conducted not only for Post-Graduation admission but also to get opportunity in several Public sector enterprises and Research Organisation ( i.e. NALCO, NTPC, BHEL, PGCIL,NHPC, GAIL , BARC, DRDO, ISRO, IOCL etc.) .On qualifying GATE, Candidates get scholarship of 12000/- per month. GATE Exam PatternThe examination pattern for GATE Exam is 3 hours duration and having total 65 questions with total score 100 marks and it has two sections. Section-I is general Aptitude and Section-II is concern engineering subjects. In the section-I, it has general aptitude (verbal ability and numerical ability) of 15 marks. It has 10 questions, 1 mark (from Q1 to Q5) and 2 marks questions (from Q6 to Q10). In the section –II, it has 55 questions in which from Q1 to Q 25 are 1 marks and Q26 to Q55 are 2 marks questions. In which Engineering Mathematics- 15 marks Engineering Core - 70 marks Negative marks for GATEThere are negative marks on the GATE exam, 1/3 mark will deduct for 1 mark questions and 2/3 mark for 2 mark questions. And there will no negative marks for the numerical ability questions.
